The building of the Factory is the cultural heritage site of the regional significance. The construction located in the historical center of Ryazan (Russian Federation), is the typical example of industrial architecture from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Its space-planning and artistic solution based on the typical project of the state-owned wine warehouse’s main building, developed in 1898 by the civil engineer V.N. Pyasetsky. The construction was a part of an industrial complex made in expressive forms of eclecticism. The facades were decorated with geometric motifs and ornaments, peculiar to the brick style.

During the later renovations, some elements were replaced while another built on. By the time of the restoration works, the roof and the risalits’ upper ceiling were missing, the facades’ brickwork and décor were partially destroyed. Internal structures had an emergency condition.

By the time the restoration works began, the roof and the upper floor’s overlap were completely absent. The first and second floors’ windows with the frameswere knocked out, while other suffered significant damage, the doors were completely lost as well. The remaining historical overlaps with the "Monnier’s Vaults" were in disrepair conditions. The only surviving staircase was also in unsatisfactory state, there were no fences. The floors were littered with garbage. At the same time, the initial overlapping and part of the first and second floors’ inner walls were dismantled. The metal parts of the building had undergone corrosion and deformation.

In order to preserve the building, complex research work has been carried out, including photographic images of its current state, complex architectural and archaeological measurements and archival bibliographic research, engineering survey of its structures. The main aim of the project was to reserve the monument’s historical architectural and artistic image, adapting the former factory to the modern functions character to a public building.

The restoration works, began in 2015 year, has been complete at the first of 2019. The main goal was to reproduce factory’s architectural-artistic appearance adopted it to modern demands.

The restoration project provides a full range works, such as dismantling of emergency ceilings, strengthening wall masonry, making new floors and inter-floor communication routes, restoring open brick front masonry and facade decoration elements, restoring the roof in its original geometrical parameters, and recreating historical ventilation shafts on roofs’ risalit, complex adaptation of building engineering systems for office function.

With the purpose to renovate the historical structure for modern realities, during the project development the study were focused on domestic and foreign experience. The tendency to preserve the appearance of the facades along with a bright emotionally saturated, shocking decision of the interior group has been revealed. At the same time there is a clear stylistic separation between the historical and modern parts, the new elements.

In the conclusion, it is necessary to admit that the project takes into account the monument’s indisputable importance in the historical and architectural city’s space, what is the most gentle way regarding the cultural heritage site.
